Bachl is located on the southern low mountain range, southwest of Innsbruck, above Kematen , at about 900  m above sea level. A. am Sendersbach , a tributary of the Melach . The place lies on both sides of the brook that forms the municipality boundary between Axams and Grinzens.

The place comprises around 70 buildings, most of which are in Grinzens. The localities of Gruben downstream (another 20 houses) and Pafnitz above (around 65 houses) also belong to the Axam locality . In Grinzens, the transition to Bichl , a suburb of Untergrinzens , is fluid.
