The Birgitzköpflhütte (also Birgitzköpflhaus ) is a hut belonging to Naturefriends Austria in the Stubai Alps above the Tyrolean Inn Valley , in the Axamer Lizum ski area . It consists of two buildings, the Old Birgitzköpflhütte and the New Birgitzköpflhaus .

location

The hut is located on the northeast pillar of the Kalkkögel , the Saile (Nockspitze) , ( 2404  m above sea level ), on the ridge that over the Birgitzköpfl ( 1982  m above sea level ) between Geroldsbachtal near Götzens and the valley of the Axamer Bach near Axams runs northwards into the Inn Valley. It is located on the municipality boundary between the two municipalities, directly at the mountain station of the Birgitzköpfl lift.

The hut is at an altitude of 2037  m , the old building 2 m lower. The height of 2098  m given by the hut itself does not match the official maps.

history

Birgitzköpflhütte (1964)

The area around Birgitzköpfl was already a popular touring area for Innsbruckers in the interwar period.

Several alpine competitions from the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and 1976 in Innsbruck took place on the Birgitzköpfl slope.

The old Birgitzköpflhütte now serves as a holiday home and has 22 beds. The new Birgitzköpflhaus from the 1970s has 31 beds.

In 1982 the Birgitzköpfl double chair lift was built up from the Axamer Lizum. Before that there was a single chair lift. The Götzner Grube drag lift was also built in 1982 as a connection to the Muttereralmbahn . 2000–2006 the Muttereralmbahn and with it the T-bar lift were closed, recently the T-bar lift was reactivated.

A direct chairlift ( Birgitzbahn , 4-seater high-speed train detachable) over the Birgitzköpfl is currently (2012) - after long negotiations - in concrete planning. ( To be built in 2017.) [obsolete] As part of this project, a sewer connection is to be created for the Friends of Nature House.

A ski path leads from here to the Mutterer Alm .
