The Bad Mergentheim area is a protected landscape area of almost 4000 hectares in the area of the city of Bad Mergentheim in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg . It was designated by ordinance of April 13, 1982 (LSG number 1.28.008).
history
Originally the protected landscape area comprised 4114 hectares. By ordinances of the Stuttgart regional council and the designation of new nature reserves, the area has been reduced several times:
- By ordinance of October 14, 1982 ( Birkenberg nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 21 ha.
- By ordinance of January 20, 1984 ( Kleines Knöckle nature reserve ) and October 31, 1984 ( Neuhaus nature reserve ), the area was reduced by 22 ha.
- By decree of September 7, 1992 (amendment) the area was reduced by 5 ha.
- By ordinance of November 16, 1998 (2nd amendment), the area was reduced by 44 ha.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is to secure ecologically valuable areas - especially the valleys - and to maintain the characteristic landscape as valuable green areas and recreational areas for the general public.
