Railway stations and stops in Saxony |
The Dresden-Klotzsche railway station is a regional station in the northern Dresden district Klotzsche . It links the Dresden – Görlitz and Dresden – Königsbrück railway lines as well as the S-Bahn line to Dresden Airport .
history
In the first decades since the opening of the first section in 1845, the trains of the Saxon-Silesian Railway passed Klotzsche. It was not until 1873 that the Royal Saxon State Railways set up the Klotzsche-Königswald stop so that the royal family could start summer trips to the Dresden Heath near Klotzsche by train. The station gave its name to the Klotzsch villa district of Königswald, which developed around it a little later .
From 1884 the narrow-gauge railway to Königsbrück had its starting point on the station forecourt. A forerunner of today's container system , so-called "transfer boxes", was used for freight transport . A gantry crane in Klotzsche station was available for reloading from normal to narrow gauge. In particular, pottery from the Königsbrück area could be reloaded gently. After 13 years of operation, the line was re-gauged and threaded into the existing Dresden – Görlitz line north of the station. Until 1945 this connection was free of elevations .
In 1907 the section from Dresden-Neustadt to Klotzsche was expanded to three tracks. As part of the expansion, today's reception building and the track systems were also built. The branch line to Weißig - Bühlau , which was also planned at the time , only reached the planning stage. It should have led directly north of the train station in a sharp bend into the Priesnitz valley and at the destination it should have created a link to the Dürrröhrsdorf – Weißig railway line .
Since March 2001, the Dresden S-Bahn has been running to Dresden Airport via Klotzsche station . As part of the expansion necessary for the S-Bahn traffic, the 170-meter-long island platform was refurbished and disabled access was created. In the northern apron of the station, a flyover structure was built to allow the airport S-Bahn to extend at no height. In 2002 and 2003 the route from Dresden-Neustadt to Dresden Airport was electrified. In Dresden-Klotzsche station, only the tracks that were absolutely necessary for electrical operation to the airport were spanned, but the masts are prepared with additional boom mounts for the extension of the catenary.
By August 2004, the possibilities for linking various modes of transport were expanded. Since then, a disabled-accessible bus stop, park-and-ride parking spaces and 68 bicycle parking spaces have been available.
In the spring of 2015, renovation work began on the listed entrance building, which had been abandoned until then. The opening of an organic supermarket with bistro by Vorwerk Podemus , the owner of which has bought the building and wants to rent part of it to other traders, took place on December 8, 2016.
In May 2017, the four drop-leaf indicators were replaced with new, digital train destination indicators (FIA).
After almost two years of construction, the newly built Nesselgrund Viaduct directly south of the train station went into operation in 2018 . For the renovation, the previous viaduct from 1853 was demolished after Deutsche Bahn rejected the renovation of the listed building.
