Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The Bad Holzhausen Station is an intermediate station on the single-track branch line of frets to Rahden in the district of Bad Holzhausen of Preußisch Oldendorf in North Rhine-Westphalia . It was also the terminus of the Wittlager Kreisbahn until passenger traffic was discontinued in 1966 . Today only goods and museum traffic take place on their route . Until the timetable change on December 15, 2019, the station was called Holzhausen-Heddinghausen .
history
After the opening of the railway line of frets to Rahden one day later, on October 1, 1899, the operating agency commissioned Holzhausen-Heddinghausen. A year later, on August 9, the Wittlager Kreisbahn route from Holzhausen to Bohmte was opened. In 1914 the line was extended until another section from Bohmte to Damme could be opened on July 1st . After passenger traffic on the section from Schwegermoor to Damme was shut down in 1962, passenger traffic on the section from Schwegermoor to Holzhausen was also discontinued on September 24, 1966. Museum traffic began on October 13, 1973 and was taken over in 1977 by the Minden Museum Railway (MEM). Special trips take place regularly in the summer months.
The line to Bohmte has been extensively renovated and modernized since 2015, also with a view to a subsequent planned reactivation for passenger traffic.
