The Karlsruhe-Mühlburg station is a stop of category 6 in Karlsruhe district Mühlburg at kilometer 20.9 of the railway line winds-Karlsruhe .

location

The former train station and today's Mühlburg stop is located in the west of the Mühlburg district of Karlsruhe. It replaced the old Mühlburger station whose siding due to the relocation of the Karlsruhe main station in 1913 between Knielingen was realigned and the new main railway station of the fan-shaped city. The Hardtbahn ( Graben-Neudorf - Eggenstein - Karlsruhe ), which was closed for passenger traffic in 1967, once branched off from him to Neureut.

history

In the course of the relocation of the Karlsruhe main station from the city center at Ettlinger Tor to its current location - the then southern outskirts - in 1913, the route between Knielingen and the new station had to be re-routed. With this re-routing, Mühlburg received a stop on the route. At the same time, the Maxaubahn line was abandoned and passenger traffic from the Palatinate ( Palatinate Maximiliansbahn ) and Graben-Neudorf ( Hardtbahn ) route was routed to the new central station to the south via the freight line that had been built 20 years earlier. Initially, the route passed northeast of the outskirts of Knielingen , then from 1938 southwest.

In 1938 the section Mühlburg - Maxau was given a new route; the route that had previously passed through Knielingen was led past the western edge of the settlement.

Since the number of passengers on the Hardt Railway, which in the course book last train of the route number 302e , declined continuously was listed since 1950, the passenger traffic is set to the total distance on May 28, 1967th

In order to facilitate operations on the Hardtbahn, the Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG), which had already taken over the Hardtbahn for light rail operations in the 1960s , subsequently bought the entire route from Deutsche Bahn AG (DB) - including the Freight connection route Neureut – Mühlburg - and has since been responsible for handling the remaining freight traffic on the Hardtbahn.

In 2010 the light rail lines S 51 and S 52 between Karlsruhe city center, Wörth and Germersheim were put into operation . While the latter used just like the S5, only the section between Worth and Maxau, reversed the former from Wörth on the track until shortly before Karlsruhe Train Station - thus also serves the Mühlburger station - and turn just before the main station in the newly built connecting ramp to Albtalbahnhof a .
