Railway stations in Baden-Württemberg |
The Malsch train station is, along with the Malsch Süd stop, one of two stations in the municipality of Malsch in Baden-Württemberg . It is located at 96.5 km of the Mannheim – Basel railway line (Rheintalbahn) and is served by two lines of the Karlsruhe Stadtbahn .
history
The station was opened on 1 May 1844 along with the stretch of Karlsruhe main station - Rastatt of from Mannheim to Basel leading Rheintalbahn by the Grand Ducal Baden State Railways opened.
The line was electrified in the 1950s.
In 2002 Malsch was officially integrated into the Karlsruhe light rail network. For this purpose, the former S3 tram line, which initially only ran between Bruchsal and Karlsruhe, was extended to Baden-Baden . In 1998, the S31 light rail line from Bruchsal to Odenheim was opened, and from the beginning of the new millennium it also reached Malsch. After the S-Bahn line S3 of the S-Bahn RheinNeckar from Speyer via Mannheim and Heidelberg to Karlsruhe was opened in December 2003 , the Karlsruhe light rail line S3 was given the line number S32 , which still exists today , in order to avoid confusion.
During the last renovation of the Malsch station, in which the previously existing points were removed, the station was downgraded from a station to a stopping point.
