Railway stations in Rhineland-Palatinate |
The Station Neubrücke (Nahe) (also known as the local train station Birkenfeld land called) is an important station in the Rhineland-Palatinate Birkenfeld . The station is located on the Nahe Valley Railway and was the end point of the Birkenfeld circular railway into the district town of Birkenfeld from 1880 to 1991 . It was opened on May 26, 1860 as part of the extension of the Nahe Valley Railway from Idar-Oberstein to Neunkirchen (Saar) .
location
The Neubrücke train station is located in the southeast of Neubrücke (Nahe) . His address is Saarstrasse 19 . The station building is also a listed building .
history
As part of the extension of the Nahe Valley Railway from Idar-Oberstein via Heimbach , Neubrücke, Türkismühle and St. Wendel to Neunkirchen (Saar) on May 26, 1860, the Neubrücke (Nahe) station was opened under the name Birkenfeld-Neubrücke , later in Neubrücke (Birkenfeld ) renamed.
On October 15, 1880, a branch line from Neubrücke to Birkenfeld was opened, which ensured the connection of the district town to the Nahe Valley Railway and thus to the national railway network. The owner of this line was the Birkenfelder Lokalbahn GmbH .
After the end of the Second World War , the Birkenfeld local railway lost its importance, as trade with the nearby, separated Saar area was restricted. This crisis was not overcome until the 1950s . From the 1960s onwards, several parallel bus routes were set up.
Economic problems at DEGUSSA AG and the Birkenfelder Ziegelei, which were part of the railway company, in the 1970s and 1980s , as well as decreasing passenger numbers, ultimately led to the line being closed and dismantled. The complete shutdown took place on September 30, 1991. Passenger traffic came to a standstill as early as 1962. The entire infrastructure was then dismantled and a cycle path was set up on the former route .
The Nahe Valley Railway was electrified between Türkismühle and Neubrücke in summer 2014 and closed for six weeks. Since then, the regional trains on the RB 73 line , which previously ended in Türkismühle, have continued to Neubrücke.
