The Porstendorf station is a railway operating location in Porstendorf in Saale-Holzland in Thuringia .

The operating point is located at 19.618 kilometers of the Großheringen – Saalfeld railway line (Saalbahn). She was also from 1904 to 1969 terminal station because there is still a distance to Burgel or Crossen an der Elster was.
The train station is located on the eastern edge of the town. The adjacent streets are An der Lache and Bahnhofstraße ( B 88 ).

The Beutnitz stop was the closest station on the former branch line . The distance from there to Porstendorf was about three kilometers.
history
On December 14, 1874, the station was opened as a stop for passenger traffic. The community initially failed to meet its payment obligations. Therefore the stop had to remain closed from June 4, 1876 to February 26, 1877. In 1904/05 the line to Eisenberg went into operation. This fundamentally changed the structure of the station. In this context, the created reception building . A small extension was added in 1908. With the two-track expansion of the Saalbahn in 1904, the Pn and Ps signal boxes were built. A locomotive shed and a turntable were also planned, but were not built. Most of the trains at that time ran to Jena, so that these systems were not necessary in Porstendorf. In 1909 the Böttcher company received a siding. Today it is called Karton-Fabrik Porstendorf GmbH.
On July 1, 1969, traffic on the route to Bürgel was stopped. This also reduced the importance of the Porstendorf train station. The general cargo traffic was stopped in 1965.
A machine cardboard factory had its own siding. This led from the northwest to the train station. There were daily transfer trips to the hall station in Jena . In the 1980s, there were six wagons of coal, waste paper and wood pulp in reception and three wagons with cardboard boxes in dispatch . This factory was served by DB until January 9, 1995 . 20,000 tons of coal and waste paper were delivered annually and 18,000 tons of cardboard were shipped. This was 90% of production, and 100% for coal. Since the Saalbahn was to be electrified in 1995, this siding could no longer be served. The reason for this was the location of the new contact line masts.
A half-timbered toilet house was demolished in 1993 because, according to the DB, it was no longer used. The mayor of Neuengönna imposed a construction freeze a year later. The municipality of Porstendorf initially intended to buy the house and the station building in order to build a railway museum in it. However, this was never realized.
In 1995 the station was rebuilt. Platform 1 has been renewed. It is now 110 meters long. In addition, a pedestrian underpass to platform 2 was built. The sidings and sidings were separated. The reception building has not been used for traffic purposes since the early 1990s. This means that Porstendorf was downgraded to a stopping point and also dissolved as a block . The interlocking Pn was to Item 18 , Ps to Item 19 . They were only used to operate the barriers. Due to the renewal of the track between Porstendorf and Zwätze, Pn was once again used as a command center . A construction switch was installed and there was single-track operation on the section. This transfer point was set up again as a block point in November 2003 after the end of the construction work and continued until the electronic signal box was built .
Björn Gesell acquired the reception building in 2005 and renovated it in the following years, taking into account monument protection and ecological aspects. The building now houses apartments and an exhibition for alternative energies.
