The railway line Frýdlant v Čechách – Jindřichovice pod Smrkem is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic , which was originally built and operated by the Friedland District Railway (FrBB) as a state-guaranteed local railway . It runs from Frýdlant v Čechách ( Friedland in Bohemia ) to Jindřichovice pod Smrkem ( Heinersdorf an der Tafelfichte ).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

On September 8, 1900, the Friedland District Committee in Bohemia received " the requested concession to build and operate a standard-gauge local train from the Friedland station of the south-north German connecting line to the border near Heinersdorf ". Part of the concession was the obligation to complete the line within two years. Because of the connection to the city of Neustadt an der Tafelfichte, the route was not built on the shortest route, but rather it left the Rasnitz valley near Rückersdorf and led in a bend around Hegewald to Neustadt. The new local railway to Heinersdorf was opened on August 2, 1902. On November 1, 1904, the cross-border line towards Greiffenberg in Silesia (today: Gryfów Śląski, Poland) went into operation. The Friedländer Bezirksbahn ran the business itself. The cross-border Heinersdorf – Greiffenberg line was operated by the Prussian State Railway , and from 1920 by the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

On January 1, 1925, the Friedland District Railway was nationalized. The line now belonged to the network of the Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

After the Sudetenland was annexed to Germany in autumn 1938, the line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn , Reichsbahndirektion Dresden . In the Reich curriculum , the connection was now included as KBS 160g Friedland (Jizera Mountains) –Heinersdorf (table spruce) . After the end of the Second World War on May 8, 1945, the entire line was returned to the ČSD, and cross-border traffic to Silesia, which was now under Polish administration, was not resumed. However, the Polish State Railways (PKP) operated a privileged through traffic to Zawidów ( Seidenberg ) for some time after 1945 , since the station there had no connection to the rest of the Polish rail network until 1948.

Jindřichovice pod Smrkem railway station (2014)

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . The 2009 timetable provided for a total of 13 pairs of passenger trains on weekdays, which ran every two hours.

Railcars of the ČD series 814 and 840 are used .

In connection with the plans to reactivate the Gryfów Śląski – Świeradów-Zdrój railway line in Poland, the Lower Silesian Voivodeship is considering re -opening the cross-border connection between Jindřichovice pod Smrkem and Mirsk.
