The Lecco – Milan line is a double-track electrified line in Lombardy .

history

The line was opened on December 27, 1873.

On January 5, 1960 derailed in a construction site at Monza Station , where a rail-like level crossing by a underpass which was replaced Express Train 341 from Sondrio to Milano Centrale , because of the rush hour strongly held, in dense fog at 94 km / h on a temporary bridge , which was only approved for 10 km / h. 15 people died and 124 others were injured. The leading locomotive , an electric locomotive of the series E.626 , and the following cars were severely damaged.

The S8 line of the Milan S-Bahn runs on the Lecco – Milan line , as does the Interregional line from Tirano to Milan . The Carnate- Milan section is also served by regional trains Bergamo- Milan.
