Baldo Martínez (* 1959 in Ferrol ) is a Spanish double bass player of the Creative Jazz .

Live and act

Martínez studied at the Conservatory of Coruña and also received lessons from Bill Dobbins . Since the early 1980s, Clunia Jazz was part of the central Galician trio , which also performed with Jorge Pardo , Paolo Fresu , Kenny Wheeler and Maria João , and in the early 1990s also the band cycle . He also worked with musicians such as Bob Mover , Mike Rabinowitz, Chano Domínguez , Perico Sambeat , Angel Rubio, Carlo Actis Dato ( Folklore Imaginario , Sonidos de la Terra ), Joachim Kühn and Louis Sclavis , but also in a duo with the singer Maite Dono .

His debut album No Pais dos Enanos (1996) received positive reviews and was named the second best album of the year by Cuadernos de Jazz magazine. He directed the Projecto Miño , which he also presented at the MusikTriennale Köln and the INNtöne Jazzfestival and whose album was praised as the best CD of 2008 by Cuadernos de Jazz , and his own Baldo Martínez Grupo. With Agustí Fernández and Ramón López , he has formed the Triez group since 2006 . He is also part of Carlos González's ZAS trio with Marcelo Peralta . He has also appeared in the MBM trio with Antonio Bravo and Lucía Martínez since 2009.
