Barbara Piecha

Barbara Piecha-Gawior (born March 4, 1949 in Katowice , Poland ) is a former Polish luge athlete .

Barbara Piecha was world champion at the 1970 World Championships on the track in Königssee, ahead of the German starters Christa Schmuck and Elisabeth Demleitner . The following year she was third at the World Championships in Olang behind Demleitner and Erika Lechner and at the European Championships in Imst behind Lechner and Angela Knösel . The athlete from GKS Katowice took part in the Olympic Winter Games twice. In 1972 in Sapporo she finished ninth, in 1976 in Innsbruck she was 13th.
