Elly Lieber (* 7. October 1932 in Aussee , and Elli Dear married Linortner ) is a former Austrian luger from the late 1950s.

Lieber came into contact with tobogganing in her early youth, but initially did not contest any competitions in this discipline. It was not until 1954, at the age of 21, that she began toboggan and became a Styrian champion in her first year of competition. The Austrian, who also exercised gymnastics and played tennis, successfully defended this title in 1955. In the following winter, Lieber improved again: First, at the end of January 1956, she won the European Championships in Imst , beating her compatriot Maria Isser , who had previously been victorious four times in a row , in February she first triumphed in the Austrian and then in the - open to all tobogganers - Polish State Championships. Because of these victories, Lieber was named “best Styrian female athlete of 1956”.

In the two following years, Lieber continued to be among the national leaders and won the silver medal at the Austrian Championships in 1958; at the international level, however, it remained medalless. That changed at the beginning of 1959 when the Ausseerin became world champion in Villard-de-Lans . Shortly thereafter, after only six years, Elly Lieber ended her tobogganing career and married her fiancé, whose name she adopted and has since been called Elly Linortner.
