Ute Oberhoffner (* 15. September 1961 in Ilmenau as Ute White ) is a former German luger .

Ute Oberhoffner, whose father Peter Weiß was part of the GDR's national luge team in the first half of the 1960s , started for ASK Vorwärts Oberhof . She became the Spartakiade winner in 1971 . In 1980 she was second at the Junior European Championships. Apart from winning the GDR championship in 1985, she was almost subscribed to bronze in the following years. In 1983 and 1987 she was third at the World Championships, and in 1986 at the European Championships. She also won bronze at the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo . Her most successful year in competitive sport was also her last. In 1988 she was European champion at the European Championships in Königssee and second at the Olympics in Calgary . Added to this was the renewed win of the GDR championship. In the same year she was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit .

After her career, the qualified sports teacher worked in the socio-educational field. Since 1988 Ute Oberhoffner has been an honorary citizen of Ilmenau in Thuringia and since 2004 mayor of Unterpörlitz . From 1990 to 2003 she was also first chairwoman of the Thuringian Sports Youth. Because of her commitment she received the highest awards of the German and Thuringian sports youth in 2003. She is committed to social issues in her hometown of Ilmenau and was a member of the CDU parliamentary group of the city council. Ute Oberhoffner is involved in the "Association for Sport and Experience-Oriented Integrative Social Work e. V. “in youth work. On April 27, 2010 Ute Oberhoffner was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit with ribbon .

She is married and has a daughter.
