Monika Auer
Monika Auer (born April 21, 1957 in Welschnofen ) is a former Italian luge athlete .
Monika Auer was particularly successful in the Luge World Cup in the first half of the 1980s . In 1980 she came in 16th at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid . In the 1980/81 season Auer only had to admit defeat to Angelika Schafferer and thus came second in the overall standings. The South Tyrolean won a race in Winterberg . In the following season she took third place behind Vera Zozuļa and Marie-Luise Rainer . In 1984 in Sarajevo Auer started for the second time at the Winter Olympics and finished in 13th place. At the European Championship of the year she won the title ahead of Heike Popel and Bettina Schmidt .
