Baricafa ( Barikafa ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Luro ( Lautém municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Baricafa had an area of ​​23.18 km². Now there are 21.44 km². The Suco is located in the south of the administrative office of Luro. In the west it borders on the Suco Afabubu , in the northwest it meets Lacawa , in the north Cotamutu , in the east the Suco Luro, in the south the administrative office Iliomar with its sucos Fuat and Caenlio and in the southwest the municipality Baucau with the administrative office Baguia and its Suco Uacala . In Baricafa the river Letana rises , which flows south and as soon as it leaves the Suco it is called Tunir . It is a source river of the Irebere . The Raumoco rises on the northeast border and then crosses the Suco Luro.

The largest settlement in sucos is Acaira on the southeast border. The national road from Lospalos to Iliomar runs through them . There is also a primary school here.

In Baricafa there are the three Aldeias Afaia , Sarelari and Ussufassu .

Residents

The Suco has 1013 inhabitants (2015), of which 504 are men and 509 women. The population density is 47.3 inhabitants / km². There are 190 households in the Suco. Over 98% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Minorities speak Habun or Tetum Prasa .

At the end of August 2011, four people died in a clash between two martial arts groups in Baricafa. As a result, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão ordered the closure of martial arts clubs.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Joaquim Preto was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Lamberto Soares .
