Uacala (Vacala) is an East Timorese Suco and Aldeia in the administrative office of Baguia ( municipality of Baucau ).

geography

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Uacala had an area of 60.95 km². Now there are 70.81 km². The Suco Uacala is located in the east of the administrative office of Baguia. To the southwest is the Suco Larisula and to the west of the Suco Defawasi . To the north is the administrative office of Laga with its Suco Atelari and to the east, Uacala borders the municipality of Lautém with the sucos Afabubu and Baricafa (both administrative office Luro ) and Caenlio (administrative office Iliomar ). The border to Iliomar is initially formed by the Tunir river , which then forms the new border river, the Irebere, with the Afalita coming from Caenlio . Three rivers have their source in the north of Sucos: the Muadaco , the Dana and the Radala . They flow together in the south and then form the Boro , which shortly afterwards also flows into the Irebere. There are no large contiguous settlements in the sparsely populated Suco. There are also no major roads. For the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , the ballot boxes had to be brought by helicopter to the polling station in the Escola Primaria Uacala primary school and picked up.

The four Aldeias Baboro , Baiafa , Betu-Muto and Uacala are located in the Suco .

Residents

Although the Suco is the largest of the administrative office in terms of area, only 576 inhabitants (2015) live here, of which 271 are men and 305 women. The population density is 8.1 inhabitants / km². There are 111 households in the Suco. Over 95% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. The rest of the population speaks Tetum Prasa .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , David Manuel Freitas Brites was elected Chefe de Suco and confirmed in office in 2009 and 2016 .
