Afaloicai is an East Timorese Suco and a place in the administrative office of Baguia ( municipality of Baucau ).

The place

The place Afaloicai is located in the north of the Sucos, at an altitude of 986  m . Here is the primary school of sucos, the Escola Primaria catolica .

Afaloicai has 1106 inhabitants (2015), of which 548 are men and 558 women. The population density is 68.6 inhabitants / km². There are 219 households in the Suco. Over 80% of the population name Naueti as their mother tongue. About 15% speak Makasae .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Afaloicai had an area of ​​10.15 km². Now there are 16.13 km². The Suco is located in the southwest of the administrative office of Baguia. To the north is the Suco Osso Huna . In the northwest is the Quelicai administrative office with its Suco Laisorolai de Cima . In the south, Afaloicai borders on the municipality of Viqueque , while in the southwest the administrative office Uato-Lari with the sucos Vessoru , Babulo and the also called Afaloicai is located. In the southeast is the third suco with this name , which belongs to the administrative office of Uatucarbau . Two mountains in the Suco are the Suliala and the Watulei-kidu .

On the northeast border, the overland road leads from Baguia . The larger towns of sucos are located on it and on the small streets that branch off from it. In addition to Afaloicai, Lacolu , Salai , Samalari ( Makasae for “ banyan tree ”), Uai-Mata ( Waimata ) and Ulolaco .

The four Aldeias Buibela , Lena , Oqui-Lari ( Oquilari ) and Uai-Mata are located in the Suco .

The politician Júlio Tomás Pinto comes from Afaloicai and has been East Timor's Secretary of State for Defense since 2007.

history

Afaloicai was a traditional kingdom in east Timor. During the Portuguese colonial period, its territory was divided between the present-day communities of Baucau and Viqueque.

In the 2004/2005 elections , António Pires was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Germano João Baptista and the and elections in 2016 re-elected.
