Alawa Craik ( Alaua Craik , Alaua-Craik , Alaua Craic , German  "Unter" -Alaua ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Baguia ( administrative office of Baucau ).

The place of Baguia

Before the 2015 regional reform, Alawa Craik had an area of ​​7.93 km². Now it is 9.67 km². The Suco is located in the southwest of the administrative office of Baguia. To the west is the Suco Hae Coni , north of the Suco Samalari . east of the Suco Alawa Leten and southeast of the Sucos Defawasi and Larisula . To the south is the administrative office of Uatucarbau (municipality of Viqueque ) with its Suco Afaloicai . The river Bassaruai forms the southern border . In the southeast the Mauai flows into the Danahine before it flows into the Bassaruai. The rivers are all part of the Irebere system .

The highways to Baucau and Loi Ulo roughly form the border with Alawa Leten. Another country road leads to Hae Coni. Baguia (Baguia Vila), the main town of the administrative office , extends beyond the northeast border into the neighboring Suco . The site has a primary school, two pre-secondary schools, a community health center, and a helipad. Alawa Craik has a market, elementary school, church and Forte de Baguia . Two kilometers before Baguia are the ruins of the Escola do Reino de Haudere school . After the Second World War it fell apart, so that today only the walls remain.

Baguia Vila consists of several individual districts. On the part of Alawa Craik, these are Ne-Olidae ( Neolidae ) and Ua-Sufa ( Uasufa ). In the northeast is the village of Sorucama ( Sorocama ), in the southwest Beheissi . Part of the town of Alawa Leten is also located in Alawa Craik.

In the Suco are the five Aldeias Afaguia , Alaua , Ne-Olidae , Sorucama and Ua-Sufa .

Residents

1648 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 811 are men and 837 women. The population density is 170.5 inhabitants / km². There are 357 households in the Suco. Over 80% of the population name Makasae as their mother tongue. Less than 10% speak Naueti and Tetum Prasa , respectively .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Raimundo Rodrigues was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , João Baptista Antonio Alves won and was confirmed in office in 2016 .
