Interstate 94 runs along the northeastern city limits, and runs here on a joint route with US Highway 52 . To the north of the metropolitan area is the western terminus of Minnesota State Route 34 . Minnesota State Route 9 , running north-south through the metropolitan area, forms the main street of Barnesville. All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roads as well as inner-city connecting roads.
