Barny Matthew P. Boatman (born January 10, 1956 in London ) is a professional British poker player from England . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and is nicknamed Barmy Barny .

Personal

Boatman grew up in London . His babysitter was at times the future comedian and actor Dudley Moore . Boatman dropped out of school early and traveled the world at a young age. He worked as a bartender , journalist , programmer , builder , English teacher and legal advisor and lived in Barcelona , Australia , Hong Kong and Sri Lanka . Today he lives in London.

Poker career

Career

Boatman began playing private poker with his brother Ross , Joe Beevers and Ram Vaswani in the London borough of Hendon in the early 1990s . The four founded the poker group Hendon Mob , which quickly gained national recognition and was sponsored by the online platform Full Tilt Poker . Boatman has participated in prestigious live tournaments since 1998 .

In May 2000 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas and came into the money twice, a. a. he finished 16th in the main event . Boatman narrowly missed winning a bracelet at the 2002 WSOP and finished second in a tournament in Pot Limit Hold'em . In mid-December 2004 he made it into the money for the first time at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour and took 15th place at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic in the Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas for almost 50,000 US dollars in prize money. In March 2005 Boatman made it into the money at the recently founded European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 23rd at the main event in Monte-Carlo for 11,900 euros . At the end of October 2011 he reached the final table at the EPT main event in Sanremo, Italy, and finished the tournament in fourth place for 225,000 euros in prize money. In the meantime the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino played out WSOP 2013 Boatman won his first bracelet and received a win bonus of fewer than 550,000 dollars. In August 2015 , he secured when in Berlin discharged World Series of Poker Europe in the variant PLO his second bracelet and a prize money of more than 50,000 euros.
