The 1983 Oceania Basketball Championship , the sixth Oceania Basketball Championship , took place between August 30 and September 3, 1983 in Whangarei , New Zealand , which hosted the championship for the fourth time. The winner was the national team of Australia , which could win the title for the sixth time. In the series New Zealand could be beaten 2-0 wins. Since the series was decided after the second game, one game three was omitted.
