The 1981 Oceania Basketball Championship , the fifth Oceania Basketball Championship , took place in 1981 in New Zealand , which hosted the championship for the third time. The winner was the national team of Australia , which could win the title for the fifth time. In the series, New Zealand could be beaten with 23-0 victories. Since the series was decided after the second game, game three was omitted.
