The 2001 Oceania Basketball Championship , the ninth women's Oceania Basketball Championship , was held between September 14 and 15, 2001 in Christchurch and Invercargill , New Zealand , which hosted the championship for the fifth time. The winner was the team from Australia , which could win the title for the eighth time. In the series New Zealand could be beaten 2-0. Since the series was decided, a third game was omitted.
