The Oceania Basketball Championship 2001 , the 15th Oceania Basketball Championship , took place between September 21 and 23, 2001 in Auckland , Wellington and Hamilton , New Zealand , which hosted the championship for the tenth time, for the third time in a row. The winner was the host , who won the title for the second time in a row. In the series Australia could be beaten 2-1 wins. It was the first time in the history of the tournament that Australia could be beaten in a best-of-three series (the team did not take part in the tournament in 1999). å
