Bastian Fleermann

Bastian Fleermann (* 1978 in Ratingen ) is a German historian and folklorist who deals with Rhenish history, German-Jewish history and the time of National Socialism . He is the director of the Düsseldorf Memorial .

Life

After graduation in Ratingen-Lintorf studied Fleermann between 1999 and 2004 at the University of Bonn history , folklore and Rheinische Regional Studies at the Institute of Regional History of the Rhineland , among others, Manfred Groten , Wolfgang Herborn, Klaus Hildebrand and Henry Leonard Cox . From 2004 to 2006 he wrote his dissertation on the subject of “Jewish everyday culture in the Duchy of Berg 1779 to 1847”, which was supervised by Gunther Hirschfelder . Between 2005 and 2011 he held lectureships at the Universities of Bonn in the subject of folklore and Duisburg-Essen at the chair for the history of the Rhine-Maas region. He has been working as a research assistant at the municipal memorial and memorial in Düsseldorf since 2007 and has been its director as successor to Angela Genger since 2011 .
