Batu Mano ( Batu Manu , Batumanu ) is an East Timorese Suco in the Atsabe administrative office ( Ermera municipality ).

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Batu Mano had an area of 8.30 km². Now it is 7.32 km². The Suco is to the west of the Atsabe administrative office. To the north is the Suco Tiarlelo , west of the Suco Laubono , south of the Suco Lacao and east of the Suco Atara . The northern border is formed by the Baluani River , which is part of the Lóis system .

The east of Batu Mano is crossed by the country road that leads from Atsabe to Bobonaro in the south. The places Batumano and Batu Ero ( Batueru ) are located on it. In the center of Sucos are the villages of Mutubau , Batu'u ( Batuu , Batu ) and Biabote . There are two primary schools in Suco. The center of sucos is difficult to reach from the outside world, which is why the ballot boxes with porters and horses for the parliamentary elections in East Timor were brought to the polling station in the primary school and picked up again.

The four Aldeias Batu Ero , Batu'u , Batumano and Mutubau are located in the Suco .

Residents

1034 inhabitants (2015) live in the Suco, of whom 510 are men and 524 women. The population density is 141.3 inhabitants / km². There are 167 households in the Suco. Almost 92% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. Over 7% speak Tetum Prasa , a small minority Habun .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Mateus Soares Mota was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Hilario Exposto da Silva won .

Attractions

In the Suco there is a stream with water that is milky white from minerals and that is said to have healing powers. During the Portuguese colonial times, a bathhouse and a basin were built to use the water for tourism. Today there are only ruins of it.
