Atara ( Atare ) is an East Timorese suco in the administrative office of Atsabe ( municipality of Ermera ).

The Suco is located in the southeast of the Atsabe administrative office. To the north are the sucos Tiarlelo , Malabe , Laclo and Parami . To the west are the sucos Batu Mano and Lacao . In the southeast Atara borders the community to Ainaro belonging Office of Administration Ainaro with his Suco Mau Ulo and on the south by the municipality Bobonaro belonging Office of Administration Bobonaro with its Sucos Colimau and Maliubu . The Baluani River has its source in Atara and flows westwards. He belongs to the system of Lóis .

The south-west of Atara crosses the country road that leads from Atsabe to Bobonaro in the south. Most of the Sucos villages are located on it. These are Uabe ( Waabe ), Dad Brille , Airae , Tapoabe , Batubala ( Batubata ) and Mania . A little northeast of it is the village of Biahoro . After the country road briefly leads through the neighboring Suco Lacao, it crosses Atara again in the northwest. Here are the villages of Malimea ( Mali Mea ) and Aifro . There are primary schools in the northwest and one in the southwest, the Escola Primaria No. 173 Atara .

In the Suco there are the seven Aldeias Airae , Batubala , Dadbere , Malimea / Uabe , Mania , Tapoabe and Uabe-Nc .

In 2002, Malimea was separated from Atara as an independent Suco, but was rejoined in 2003. During the 2015 regional reform, the border was redrawn to the north. In the west a small area went to Batu Mano, while Atara was given territory in the northwest from Tiarlrlo. Before the reform, Atara had an area of ​​24.93 km². Now it is 23.85 km².

Residents

The Suco has 2737 inhabitants (2015), of which 1384 are men and 1353 women. The population density is 114.7 inhabitants / km². There are 433 households in the Suco. Over 98% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. A minority speaks Tetum Prasa .

history

On August 23, 2009, the Sucos Lacao and Atara ended a decade-long hostility with an official peace ceremony.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Francisco A. Aráujo was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Lourenço de Jesus .
