The East Timorese City Mau-Ulo ( Mauulo , Mau Ulu ) is in Suco Mau Ulo ( Office of Administration Ainaro , community Ainaro ).

The place

The place Mau-Ulo is the largest settlement in Suco. It is located in the southeast of the Sucos at an altitude of 746  m above sea level. There is a primary school in the village.

1492 people live in the Suco (2015), of which 751 are men and 741 women. The population density is 58.2 inhabitants / km². There are 300 households in the Suco. Almost 60% of the population name Tetum Prasa as their mother tongue. More than 30% speak Mambai , over 5% Kemak .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Mau-Ulo had an area of ​​27.33 km². Now it is 25.64 km². In the northeast and east lies the Suco Ainaro and in the south Mau-Nuno . Part of the border with Ainaro is followed by the Sarai River . One of its tributaries forms part of the border with Mau-Nuno and flows into the southeast corner of Mau-Ulo. In the southwest is the Suco Ucecai (administrative office Zumalai , municipality of Cova Lima ), in the west the Sucos Colimau and Cota Bo'ot (administrative office of Bobonaro , municipality of Bobonaro ) and in the northwest the Sucos Atara and Malabe (administrative office of Atsabe , municipality of Ermera ).

In Mau-Ulo are the five Aldeias Dagamessa ( Daga-Mesa ), Hato-Lau ( Hatu-Lau ), Hato-Lelo ( Hatu-Lelo ), Mau-Ulo-Pú ( Mau-Ulo-Fu ) and Mau-Ulu- Lau ( Mau-Ulo-Lau ).

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections, Eliseu de Jesus Araújo Malik was elected Chefe de Suco and confirmed in his office in 2009. In the elections in 2016 won Luis da Valadares Colaso .
