Before the 2015 regional reform, Laubono had an area of 22.05 km². Now it is 21.52 km². The Suco is to the west of the Atsabe administrative office. To the east are the sucos Leimea Leten , Tiarlelo , Batu Mano , Lacao and Obulo . In the north, Laubono borders the Hatulia administrative office with its Suco Leimea-Craic . In the west is the administrative office Cailaco belonging to the municipality of Bobonaro with its Sucos Goulolo , Guenu Lai , Atudara and Raiheu and in the south the administrative office of the same name Bobonaro with its Suco Soileco . The Baluani River forms the border with Tiarlelo and Leimea Leten . It flows into the Ladiban , the border river to Leimea-Craic. It flows in turn into the Marobo River , which rises in the center of the Sucos and is one of the most important tributaries of the Lóis . The other western border rivers Bulobu and Babonasolan also flow into the Marobo .

On the western border lie the villages of Brahua ( Brabua ) and Eremeta and in the northeast, on the border with Tiarlelo, the villages Airae , Biabote ( Biabole ) and Sirui . Eremeta has a primary school, the Escola Laubono . There are no major roads to connect to the outside world. For the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , for example, the ballot boxes had to be brought to the polling station in the primary school with porters and horses and then picked up again.

The three Aldeias Biabote , Purogoa and Sirui / Purogoa are located in the Suco .

history

In early January 2003, Tiarlelo and Laubono were ambushed by up to 15 bandits masked with balaclavas with automatic weapons and old Indonesian uniforms, 25 km from the border with Indonesia . Three people were killed and five injured. The East Timorese Defense Forces then sent 180 soldiers to the region for police duties. Members of Colimau 2000 - an organization founded by former underground youth activists - were accused of involvement in the robberies, which resulted in the death of seven people. Mass arrests followed, but the courts released all suspects.

In the 2004/2005 elections , Felisberto Gomes was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Francisco P. Horta .
