Obulo ( Obolu ) is an East Timorese Suco in the Atsabe administrative office ( municipality of Ermera ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Obulo had an area of ​​8.82 km². Now there are 5.27 km². The Suco is located in the southwest of the Atsabe administrative office. To the north are the Sucos Laubono and Lacao and to the east the Suco Atara . To the south and west Obulo borders the community to Bobonaro gehörendem Administration Office Bobonaro with its Sucos Soileco and Maliubu . The border with Bobonaro is formed by rivers such as the Babalai and Bulobu . They belong to the system of Lóis .

In the northeast of Obulo are the villages of Locoubu ( Lakubu ), Atubrao ( Atubrau ), Obeto , Motoubu and Atulara . In the center is the place Biliubu ( Biliubu ) and in the south the place Suriubu ( Siriubu ).

In the Suco there are the seven Aldeias Atubrao , Atulara , Biliubu , Locoubu , Motoubu , Obeto and Suriubu .

1022 inhabitants live in the Suco (2015), of which 470 are men and 552 women. The population density is 194.0 inhabitants / km². There are 188 households in the Suco. Over 97% of the population name Kemak as their mother tongue. Minorities speak Tetum Prasa , Mambai or Bunak .

In the Obulo have Kemak , as in Marobo (municipality Bobonaro) with neighboring Bunak mixed. Marobo and Obulo therefore maintain close relationships with one another.

Governor José Celestino da Silva led an offensive against Obulo and the closely associated Marobo in March 1895 in order to finally subdue them for Portugal . Obulo was only defeated in May. The commanding captain Eduardo da Câmara reported about the inhabitants of Obulo that they were very skilled in waging war. You could throw the zagaia 50 meters to bring a man down and be fearless with a sword too. They could only be driven apart with gunfire.

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Adriano Mau Mau was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Angelino da Conceição .
