The 33rd Bavaria Tour took place from May 23 to 27, 2012. The race was held in five stages , including an individual time trial , over a distance of 801.90 kilometers. It was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2012 and was classified in the 2nd HC category.
The overall winner was the Australian Michael Rogers from the Sky ProCycling team .

Stages
Sprinter Alessandro Petacchi from Team Lampre-ISD won the 1st stage from Traunstein to Penzberg over 215.7 kilometers on May 23rd ahead of Allan Davis ( Orica GreenEdge ) and Belarusian Jauheni Hutarowitsch ( FDJ-Big Mat ). The best German was John Degenkolb ( Argos-Shimano ) in 4th place.
The 2nd stage from Penzberg to Kempten over 195.6 kilometers on May 24, 2012, Michael Rogers won after 4: 43.48 hours in the final of a five-man leading group as the best sprinter, ahead of Vladimir Gusev from the Russian team Katusha and the French Jérôme Coppel ( Saur -Sojasun ). Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre-ISD) led the field over the finish line 23 seconds behind the outliers.
In the third stage from Kempten to Treuchtlingen over 196.4 kilometers on May 25, 2012, Alessandro Petacchi won for the second time. Second place went to Belarusian Jauheni Hutarowitsch (FDJ-Big Mat), local hero John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) came third .
The 4th stage on May 26th was the time trial over 26.4 kilometers in Feuchtwangen . The Australian Michael Rogers won with a time of 31:14 seconds ahead of his compatriot and team-mate Richie Porte (31:19 min) and the French Jérôme Coppel from the Saur-Sojasun team (31:30 min.)
The final stage from Feuchtwangen to Bamberg over 167.8 kilometers on May 27, 2012 won Alessandro Petacchi in the mass sprint ahead of Allan Davis (Orica GreenEdge) and André Schulze (Team NetApp).
Overall rating
The winner of the overall ranking was the Australian Michael Rogers from the Sky ProCycling team, ahead of the French Jérôme Coppel (Saur-Sojasun) and Vladimir Gusev from the Russian Katusha team . The German Steffen Radochla ( NSP-Ghost ) won the mountain classification , Alessandro Petacchi (Lampre ISD) the sprint classification and Tony Gallopin ( RadioShack-Nissan ) the junior classification. The best German driver in the overall classification was Christian Knees from Team Sky ProCycling in seventh place . The winner of the team classification was the British team Sky ProCycling.
