Beate Granzow (born December 27, 1940 in Hamburg ) is a German singer and actress .

Life

Beate Granzow first received her training as a dancer at the Hamburg State Opera ; afterwards she worked for four years in the Hamburg television ballet and also completed a vocal course.

Engagements as a dance soubrette at the Operettenhaus Hamburg , the Theater an der Wien and the Graz theaters followed . The freelance artist has stood on the major operetta and musical stages for over 40 years. Kurt Pscherer , director and long-time director of the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, woke up and promoted Beate Granzow's all-round talent in the mid-1970s: In the title role in the musical Gigi , she appeared on stage for ten years alongside Johannes Heesters , Luise Ullrich and Béla Erny for ten years from 1978 of the Gärtnerplatztheater. She took the 150th Gigi performance on the occasion of Heesters' 85th birthday as an opportunity to leave this role and she became a much sought-after and acclaimed musical actress at the Graz stages , at the Berlin Theater des Westens , at the Vienna Volksoper , at the Theater an der Wien, at the Bregenz Festival , at the Saarbrücken State Theater , Theater Koblenz , Stadttheater St. Gallen , Lucerne Theater , the Städtische Bühnen Augsburg and in countless television productions and shows.

Her star roles were Bianca in Kiss me, Kate , Velma Kelly in Chicago , Dolly in Hello, Dolly! , the Mother Superior in Dan Goggins Nonnsense , Anita in West Side Story and Mama Rose in Gypsy by Jule Styne . With this role, Beate Granzow said goodbye to her audience in the spring of 2002 at the theater of the state capital Magdeburg and now lives with her husband Dieter Heckmann in East Friesland .
