Beberstedt is a village on the edge of the upper Eichsfeld and administratively belongs as district to the municipality Dünwald in Unstrut-Hainich-Kreis in Thuringia .

location

Beberstedt is located with its district on the upper southern roofing of the Dün about 11 kilometers north of Mühlhausen . Geologically, soils are mostly weathered by shell limestone . The highest elevation is the Hellborn (493.4 m) north of Beberstedt. The main road in 2043 connects the village with the surrounding communities.

history

The village was first mentioned in a document in March 1191. An earlier settlement by members of the Angling tribe is assumed. The name could be interpreted as the site of a Bebo .

Despite unfavorable soil and climatic conditions, the place was shaped by agriculture for centuries. From the 18th and 19th centuries, various branches of trade and smaller weaving and cigar manufacturing operations were added. The place originally belonged to the Electoral Mainz Eichsfeld . 1802/03 he came with this to Prussia . From 1807 to 1813 Beberstedt belonged to the canton of Dingelstädt in the Kingdom of Westphalia and from 1815 to 1945 to the Prussian district of Mühlhausen i. Th. , Which was then incorporated into the state of Thuringia. From 1913 to 1947 Beberstedt was connected to the Silberhausen – Hüpstedt railway with its own train station. With 760 inhabitants, the district of Beberstedt is the second largest member of the community association.

On January 1, 1994, the communities of Beberstedt, Hüpstedt and Zaunröden merged to form the new community of Dünwald.

Noble families in Beberstedt

Various noble families were wealthy in Beberstedt in the Middle Ages, such as the knights of Tastungen and von Knorre and Uder in the 13th century. A noble family named itself after the place. In 1191 a relative was mentioned for the first time with Wicknandus de Fixide . In 1258 a Heinrich von Beberstedt was named and in 1281 Johann von Beberstedt waived contentious claims against the Reifenstein monastery . It is not known to what extent the aristocratic families resident here were connected to Brandenburg (presumed castle complex) near Beberstedt .
