The Bebra is a 10 kilometer long right tributary of the Fulda in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg . The Bebra is a small flowing water of the waters order III.

geography

The Bebra rises on the western slopes of the Brodberg ( 376.5  m above sea  level ) about one kilometer northeast of Rautenhausen, a district of Bebra . A second source stream, which comes from the north, flows into Rautenhausen. The Bebra then flows in a southerly direction, further through Asmushausen and through the old town of Bebra. Then the direction of flow swings in a westerly direction and flows into the Fulda after about 1.5 kilometers, at river kilometer 119.8 . At the mouth there is a gravel lake to the north. Opposite is the Forbachsee nature reserve.

The Bebra forms the border between the Richelsdorf Mountains in the east and the Stölzinger Mountains in the west with the neighboring Solz and Cornberger Wasser .

The federal road 27 runs through the Bebratal and in the upper section of the valley also the Bebra – Göttingen railway line .

Nature reserve

The “Unterm Siegel” nature reserve is located on the lower reaches of the Bebrabach, about one kilometer north of the outskirts of Bebra. It is 8.8 hectares and is about 220  m above sea level. NN along the Bachaue . It is bounded by federal road 27 on the right side of the stream and the course of the stream or the edge of the forest on the left side of the stream. It has sedge and reed stands along the course of the stream . Furthermore, drainage ditches were filled in and small ponds created in the 1980s . Wet meadows extend over all other areas.
