Bennewitz is a district of the city of Torgau in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

location

The rural district of Bennewitz is located 4.8 kilometers east and 2 kilometers south of the city of Torgau in the immediate vicinity of the federal highway 182 which passes east and west of the Elbe lowlands in the Beckwitz-Belgern valley sand plain . To the northwest there is the stork pond on the outskirts , followed by the fishing pond and the king pond .

history

In 1251 the manor village was called Bonewitz. The name of the place was changed many times and in 1616 it was called Bönnewitz. At that time it was an outbuilding with few residents. Therefore the residents parish to Weßnig . The administrative affiliation was always in Torgau, but with changed structures of the respective social order. The Vorwerk became a manor with an area of ​​508 hectares. In 1818 the manor village had 147 inhabitants and in 1946 there were 345.

On July 1, 1950, the village was incorporated into Weßnig, in 1994 as a result of a change of area it came to Pflückuff and on January 1 as a district to the city of Torgau.
