Weßnig is a district of the city of Torgau in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

Weßnig is located southeast of the city of Torgau on the federal highway 182 on a sandy floor in the Elbe Valley .
history
In 1215 a manor owned by Otto de Weznig , de Wezenich was first mentioned for the settlement. In 1330 they were called a manor, then a manor that ran until 1880. 1552 28 people lived in the village, 194 in 1818, 617 in 1950 and 392 in 1990. The place name underwent minor changes over time before Weßnig was written. The parish church to which the districts of Benken, Bennewitz , Kranichau , Kunzwerda , Mehderitzsch and Pülswerda are connected was already mentioned in 1243 . The higher-level authorities were always based in Torgau, but always taking into account the respective social order. On July 1, 1950, the previously independent community of Bennewitz was incorporated.
On January 1, 1994 the communities Weßnig, Beckwitz , Loßwig , Mehderitzsch and Staupitz were merged to form a new community Pflückuff . This came to Torgau on January 1st, 2009.
