Melpitz is a district of the city of Torgau in the district of North Saxony in Saxony .

The street village of Melpitz is located southwest of the city of Torgau on the Schwarzen Graben . Its district borders to the north on the Halle - Cottbus railway line and on the federal road 87 . The territory of the Dübener Heide begins further north and that of the Dahlener Heide to the south .
history
In 1251 the village was called Melpuz, then some changes in the name followed until it had its current name in 1579. Before 1551, 25 to 33 people lived in the estate. In 1818 there were 190, 1946 363 and 1990 218 souls in the village.
The authorities were always based in Torgau, in line with social developments. From 1500 the parish parish to Klitzschen . In 1395 the settlement was first mentioned as a manor house. From 1437 to 1510 the place was a manor with an area of 481 hectares (1895). In 1994 the village was incorporated into Torgau.
