Beckwitz is a district of the city of Torgau in the northern Saxony district in Saxony .

The Angerdorf Beckwitz is located southwest of the city of Torgau on the county road 8916 in the Beckwitz-Belgernsche valley sand plain on the Beckwitzer Bruch and a larger wooded area west of the Elbe .

history

In 1251 the village was named Beckwitz. Later in 1533/34 the village was called as it is today, but in 1577/76 Pechwitz, shortly afterwards the name was returned to it today. Officially, the village always belonged to the respective offices in Torgau. The district of North Saxony is also based in the town of Torgau, to which the agricultural village has belonged since 2009. In 1885 the place had an agricultural area of ​​1025 hectares. In 1818 284 people lived in the village. In 1946 there were 800 people living in the village.

There was already a parish church in the village around 1500 .

On January 1, 1994 the communities Beckwitz, Loßwig , Mehderitzsch , Staupitz and Weßnig were merged to form a new community Pflückuff . This came to Torgau on January 1st, 2009.
