Benno Eide Siebs (born September 14, 1891 in Geestemünde ; † January 25, 1977 in Bremerhaven ) was a German lawyer , civil servant and local writer.

biography

Siebs was the son of the shipowner August Siebs and his wife Helene Siebs née Wiemers from Geestemünde. He attended high school in Bremerhaven and from 1910 studied law and political science at the University of Heidelberg , the University of Munich , the University of Greifswald and the University of Rostock . In 1910 he became a member of the Vineta Heidelberg fraternity during his studies . He received his doctorate in 1914 in Rostock to Dr. jur.

In 1922 Siebs made a marriage bond with his wife Annaliese Pust in Geestemünde.

Civil servant and judge

He then worked in the Prussian general state administration at various locations in the administrative and judicial service as a department head, consultant and department head and from 1928 to 1932 as district administrator of the Weener district in East Friesland and from 1932 to 1933 of the Hadeln district . He was in Königsberg from 1933 and from 1939 as a senior government councilor in Magdeburg . In 1945 he settled again in the area of ​​the Lower Weser and soon afterwards lived in Bremerhaven-Geestemünde. Until his retirement (1954) he was a judge at the Wesermünde / Bremerhaven district court and temporarily headed the Dorum district court.

Local history explorer

Siebs represented East Frisia in the three-member German-Dutch Frisian Council from 1928 to 1932 and was an elected member of the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony from 1931 . Siebs did research in the area of ​​local history and was active in various local history associations. He wrote a number of local literature. From 1952 to 1969 he was chairman (from 1969 honorary chairman) of the Heimatbund der Männer vom Morgenstern , which is one of the most important local history associations of Bremen and Lower Saxony. He was chairman of the marsh council founded in 1950 to promote research in the coastal area of ​​the North Sea, which worked together with the Lower Saxony state agency for marshland research . A large number of biographies were written under his pen in the 1950s and 1960s.

Eide Siebs was buried in the Eide Siebs family grave in the Bremerhaven cemetery in Wulsdorf .
