The Hermann Allmers Prize is named after the poet Hermann Allmers and is awarded for local research .

About history

In 1957, the local history association “ Men from Morgenstern ” received a special gift to celebrate its 75th anniversary: the city of Bremerhaven , the districts of Wesermünde and Hadeln , and the city of Cuxhaven donated the “Hermann Allmers Prize” on August 25th für Heimatforschung ”and endowed it with 2000 DM. Since 2011 the Rüstringer Heimatbund e. V. joined the group of founders. The prize money is currently 3000 €. According to the founders' wishes, the prize should be “an award for scientific achievements, at the same time recognition of unselfish work. It should encourage tasks that have been tackled, cheer on the next generation and attract new employees ”. Every other year on February 11th - Hermann Allmers' birthday - the prize should be given to outstanding local researchers. In keeping with this foundation, a long line of deserving people from among the members of the Heimatbund, for archaeological , natural history, genealogical and local history researchers, for supporters of Low German and local politicians who are associated with their homeland, has been honored with the Hermann Allmers Prize.
