Professional development

After working for the law firms Sieghart Ott and Otto Gritschneder, he was admitted to the Munich bar in 1973, where he and three other partners founded the law firm Heussen Braun von Kessel, who later joined Reiner Ponschab. Since 1992 he has headed the Berlin branch.

The law firm Heussen Braun von Kessel initially merged with Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek (1997–2000). After this merger was separated again, there was a merger with PricewaterhouseCoopers Veltins Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, today's HEUSSEN Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. It now has several locations in Germany, and representative offices in New York and Brussels as well as cooperation with HEUSSEN Netherlands (Amsterdam) and HEUSSEN Italy (Rome, Milan).

After the first generation of lawyers who founded legal informatics ( Herbert Fiedler , Wilhelm Steinmüller, Hans Peter Bull, Fritjof Haft , Alfred Podlech, Bernhard Schlink and others, see legal informatics ), he belongs to the second generation of lawyers, who, alongside the university teachers, belong to the second generation Generation ( Maximilian Herberger , Thomas Hoeren , Alexander Roßnagel and others) strive for the theory of practice in this special field (Christoph Zahrnt, Jochen Schneider, Michael Bartsch, Hans-Jürgen Garstka, Frank A. Koch, Peter Bräutigam and others). In his academic work, he advocated open source models alongside proprietary approaches.

Outside of IT law, he has also written numerous books and articles in the field of law and economics - or has been responsible for editing (Beck'sches Rechtsanwalts Handbuch, 10th edition. 2011; Entrepreneur Manual, CH Beck , 2005).

Heussen has written theoretical papers on the organization, tactics and psychology of negotiation. To this end, he held courses in China and Vietnam in 2004/2005 in cooperation with InWEnt .
