Benoît Dunoyer de Segonzac

Benoît Dunoyer de Segonzac (* 1962 in Strasbourg ) is a French composer and bassist who is best known for his participation in the jazz formation of Jacques Loussier , the founder of Play Bach .

Dunoyer de Segonzac began his musical training at the Strasbourg Conservatory at the age of five . At the age of twenty he completed his training on the double bass with Vincent Pasquier and Jean Marc Rollez . He plays several instruments and is involved in a wide musical spectrum, from jazz ( Louis Sclavis , René Urtreger , Marc Ducret , Vincent Courtois , Jean-Rémy Guédon , Catherine Delaunay ) to classical, contemporary music ( Jean Pierre Arnaud ) and improvisational music ( Accroche Note ) to chanson (Pierre Louki), cabaret ( Hanna Schygulla ) and film music ( Kid Power - Die Nervensäge! By Eric Civanyan ). He is also known as a composer through his work Souingue , written for the Avignon Festival in 1996 . Since 1997 he has played the (five-string) double bass in Jacques Loussier's trio . He is also on albums by Cheb Khaled and Stephan Eicher and the quartet Ocean with Sylvain Beuf to hear and belonged to the since 2017 Paris Combo to Belle du Berry on.
