Bergerstrasse is a street village in the rural outskirts of the district town of Viersen in the west of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia . The village is located in the southeast of the Dülken district of Viersen , only approx. 600 m north of the city limits of Mönchengladbach . Within North Rhine-Westphalia, Bergerstrasse also belongs to the Lower Rhine region and, as a district of Viersen, also belongs to the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan region . Earlier names for the village were Bergstras and Bergerstrasse . Bergerstraße is also included in the Dülken district by post and therefore has the postcode 41751.

history

Map section with Bergerstrasse and Bockert during the French period , approx. 1805.

The Bergerstrasse area had belonged to the Duchy of Jülich since the 14th century and was assigned to the Dülken judicial district of the Brüggen Office .

Around 1800, the entire area on the left bank of the Rhine (today's Germany ) was annexed by France , and Bergerstrasse was incorporated into the mayor's office (" Mairie ") Dülken, which had been newly established by the French administration. It stayed that way after the area fell to the then victorious Prussia in 1815 following Napoléon's defeat in the Battle of Waterloo .

Within the mayor's office of Dülken, Bergerstraße belonged to the municipality of Dülken-Land , which also included a number of other smaller towns around Dülken.

70 years later, in 1927, the municipality of Dülken-Land was incorporated again into the city of Dülken, which was finally incorporated into the city of Viersen itself in 1970, so that Bergerstraße is now a district of the city of Viersen. Within Viersen, Bergerstraße is now part of the official district of Dülken, which essentially corresponds to the former Dülken urban area.

Road traffic

  • The street village of Bergerstraße stretches mainly in north-south direction along Venner Straße , which actually connects Dülken with the Mönchengladbach districts of Rasseln and Venn . However, Venner Strasse south of Bergerstrasse is closed to general vehicle traffic.
  • In a west-east direction, Venner Straße is crossed by Kreisstraße 8 , which comes from Schwalmtal - Waldniel via Mackenstein and Hausen to Bergerstraße and then via the Mackenstein motorway junction on the A 61 first to Bockert (" Bockerter Straße ") and then over Beberich (" Bebericher Straße ") leads to Gladbacher Straße (L 71).
  • The closest motorway connection is the "Mackenstein" motorway junction on the A 61.

Rail transport

There is no rail traffic in Bergerstrasse and has never existed, neither as a train nor as a tram.
The closest passenger train stations to Bergerstrasse are Viersen and Dülken .

Bus transport

As a district of Viersen, Bergerstraße is theoretically part of the tariff area of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr , but the Viersener Niederrheinwerke does not drive to the village and the Mönchengladbacher NVV AG takes an express bus line (SB 88) past Bergerstraße without stopping.

The closest bus stops are in Hausen (line SB88), Mackenstein or Busch (line CE89), Bockert (lines 081, 082), Rasseln (line 026) and Winkeln (line 003).

Bike trails

There are no officially designated bike trails through Bergerstraße. However, there is a separate cycle path
along Kreisstrasse 8, which runs past Bergerstrasse , and Venner Strasse is also closed to motor vehicles from Bergerstrasse in the direction of Rasseln and Venn (it is an asphalt farm road between Bergerstrasse and Venn) and is very easy to cycle on by bicycle . The route over Venner Straße is also the shortest connection for cyclists from Dülken to Mönchengladbach city center, even if this is not officially indicated by signs.
