The NEW mobile and active Viersen GmbH is a public company for the operation of bus routes and bathrooms in Viersen . The company is a member of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association . 58 employees currently use 25 buses on 10 bus routes. In 2005, around 8.5 million passengers were carried.

history

The company emerged from Stadtwerke Viersen and Viersener Verkehrs-GmbH, founded in 1948. This was renamed Niederrheinwerke Viersen mobil GmbH in June 2001. On December 21, 2010, the structure of a municipal holding company was introduced in Viersen and Mönchengladbach for reasons of public procurement law. The newly founded Niederrhein Kommunalholding GmbH owned 100% of the shares in Niederrheinwerke Viersen aktiv GmbH, which operated the pools at the time, and 66% of the shares in Niederrheinwerke Viersen mobil GmbH. The remaining 34% were owned by the city of Viersen when the company structure was introduced. In August 2011, the two companies were merged into Niederrheinwerke Viersen mobil und aktiv GmbH. On January 9, 2012, Niederrhein Kommunalholding GmbH was renamed NEW Kommunalholding GmbH and the joint brand NEW was introduced for the subsidiaries. In this context, the company received its current name and branding.

Ownership structure

The shareholders are the city ​​of Viersen and 50.1% of the shares are NEW Kommunalholding GmbH. The city ​​of Mönchengladbach holds 20.05% of the shares in NEW Kommunalholding , the development company of the city of Mönchengladbach GmbH holds 43.25%, the city of Viersen holds 20.04% and Kreiswerke Heinsberg GmbH holds 16.66%.

Bus routes

NEW mobil und aktiv Viersen operates ten bus routes, with the exception of express bus routes SB87 and CE89, these operate exclusively as city buses within the city of Viersen.
