Bernd Delbrügge (* in Minden ) is a German saxophonist , band leader , composer , music producer and photographer .

Delbrügge passed the Abitur at the Städtisches Gymnasium Petershagen and names artists like James Brown and the music group Can as the greatest musical influences of his youth . After training as a carpenter he has lived since 1983 in Cologne, where he guest student at the Cologne Music Academy was led by Jiggs Whigham and Michael Villmow in the Big Band of the Rheinische Musikschule played and saxophone lessons with Andreas Kaling , wollie kaiser and Roger Hanschel took .

He took part in the opening of Documenta 8 as a member of Frank Köllges' “Intermission Orchestra” . In 1989 he founded the 12-member soul band "Soulcats". In the early 90s he played in the Cologne band “Viva la Diva”, with whom he participated in 1992 and 2012 in Arsch huh, Zäng ussenander , an action against right-wing extremism.

In 1994 he was the saxophonist and band leader of the first RTL night show season with Thomas Koschwitz . In 1995 he produced a series of introduction music and jingles for the TV station ProSieben , and in 1997 the theme music for the ZDF infotainment program “Hauser & Kienzle u. the opinion makers ”.

Bernd Delbrügge played with Bobby Byrd , Dr. Feelgood , Guildo Horn , Nina Hagen , Albie Donnelly and Gerd Köster . In addition, he worked on record and television productions. Since 2003 he has appeared with the lounge jazz formation “floorJIVERS”, of which he is the founder and band leader. The debut album e-STYLEZ was the CD of the week on WDR 5 (jazz twenty 5) in 2006 . Further CD productions were released in 2009 (blue-TRAXS) and 2014 (Songbook) .

Together with Albrecht Koch , he formed the “Madame Pomsky Orchestra” from 2013 until its dissolution in 2017. The orchestra played - influenced by the sound of the 50s and 60s - self-composed German-language titles, which the two protagonists called "Chansons noir".

In 2014 he re-formed the "Soulcats" together with BAP bass player Werner Kopal. Since 2016 he has been maintaining the "Bernd Delbrügge Duo" with changing pianists. With the "Bernd Delbrügge Band" he plays a style mix of soul jazz , boogaloo and R´n´B . In addition to his work as a saxophonist, Delbrügge also appears as a singer.

Bernd Delbrügge also works as a photographer.

In 1999, Ullstein Verlag published his novel The Show Must Go On , a satirical detective novel in which he processed his experiences in the media business.
