Bernfried EG Pröve

Bernfried EG Pröve (born January 6, 1963 in Braunschweig ) is a German lecturer , composer and organist .

biography

After graduating from the Gaußschule in Braunschweig, Pröve studied school music, organ and composition at the Berlin University of the Arts from 1982 to 1985 . His teachers were Rudolf Heinemann (organ) and Isang Yun , Frank Michael Beyer and Witold Szalonek (composition and instrumentation). From 1985 to 1991 he studied composition, music theory, conducting and organ postgraduate studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Freiburg with Klaus Huber , Peter Förtig , Brian Ferneyhough (composition and music theory) and Mesías Maiguashca (electronic music), as well as Zsigmond Szathmáry (organ) and Francis Travis (conducting). He then took composition courses with Franco Donatoni , Elliott Carter , Gérard Grisey , Tristan Murail and Philippe Manoury . He obtained his diploma in 1994. In the same year he received a scholarship for the Villa Massimo in Rome .

In 1995 he was selected for the one-year “Cursus de composition et d'informatique musicale” and then studied at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales with Hugues Dufourt . At the same time he studied conducting with Peter Eötvös at the "International Peter Eötvös Institute". Pröve conducted the Klangforum Wien and the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart during a conducting course with Helmuth Rilling .

He received composition commissions from Donaueschingen for: "Fernung-Horizont-Nahe" for large orchestra and 4 orchestral groups, the Ars Nova music series, the SWR Stuttgart for its choral work "Merz-Transitus", the Hamburg State Opera for the orchestral piece "Anthaer", the Biennale Neue Musik Hannover , the Metz Music Festival for the orchestral work “Diastase”, the Jena Philharmonic for the 1st Symphony and the Braunschweig State Theater for its ballet “The Journey to the Seven Planets”, the Gärtnerplatztheater Munich for its ballet “The Little Prince” "to St. Exupery, the Bibles & Culture Foundation for the multimedia oratorio" Josef and his brothers ". In 1989 he was first composer in residence at the Hamburg State Opera and wrote the commissioned work "ANTHA" on behalf of the Hamburg State Opera. In 1991 he was the European representative at the World Composers Forum in Montreal with his work "Tract" for ensembles and was for the preliminary round selected for the composition competition "Glass Factory" Dresden.

He gave composition courses in Skopje and the Dresden University of Music, among others . Since 1997 he has been running the CD label "edition zeitklang Musikproduktion" and the publishing house "Master Arts Music Publishing". From 1997 to 2000 he was choirmaster and organist at the Petri Pauli Church in Bad Münder . Since 2000 he has been a lecturer in piano and composition at the New York Music Academy in Braunschweig. In March 2007 he was invited to teach composition at the Beijing Music Conservatory . In 2007 and 2008 he was Professor di musica at the Scuola Germanica in Genoa , from 2008 to 2011 Pröve Iswasdoc participant in a colloquium with Professor Eckhardt Bauer at the Braunschweig Art College .
