The Bernhard-Strigel-Gymnasium is one of two state high schools in Memmingen .
history
There is documentary evidence of the activity of a Rector puerorum Magister Cuonradus in Memmingen in 1285 . In 1427 a Latin school in today's Weinhaus and eatery Weber am Bach is recorded in the city's annals. The first school regulations called Regiment der Schul exist in the city archives from 1513 . In 1572 the Latin school moved to the Elsbethenkloster. In 1775 the Latin school was renamed the Lyceum , following the fashion of the time . In 1805 there was a secondary and study school and from 1813 a Latin school again. In the Second World War were 234 former students and five teachers. In 1965, what had been called the Oberrealschule with Gymnasium up until then, was given its current name. The current school building was occupied at the beginning of 1967. It was named after the city's most famous son, the painter Bernhard Strigel .
