Bernhard Halbe

Bernhard Halbe (born May 17, 1958 in Olpe ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He is mayor of the Sauerland town of Schmallenberg .

Life

Bernhard Halbe graduated from high school in Olpe in 1976. He then studied at the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration in Hagen and worked for the district of Olpe alongside his studies. He then studied law in Cologne and Mainz. From 1990 until he took office as mayor, Bernhard Halbe was City Director of the City of Schmallenberg. On September 12, 1999, he was elected the first full-time mayor in Schmallenberg with 66.7 percent of the vote. He thus succeeded Franz Josef Pape , Schmallenberg's only SPD mayor after 1945, who had held the office on a voluntary basis since 1994.

In the 2004 mayoral election , Halbe was confirmed in office with 68.1 percent. In the mayoral election on August 30, 2009, he further improved his result and was re-elected with 71.9 percent of the vote. Bernhard Halbe intended to run for the 2009 Bundestag election as a Bundestag candidate of the CDU in the Bundestag constituency Hochsauerlandkreis as successor to Friedrich Merz , but lost in advance at a CDU district delegate conference against the deputy chairman of the CDU Hochsauerlandkreis, Matthias Kerkhoff , and the finally nominated Patrick Sensburg . On May 25, 2014 in Schmallenberg there was another re-election of the halves, this time with 77.33 percent of the valid votes.

Bernhard Halbe is married and has three sons.

Commitment and honors

Bernhard Halbe is involved, among other things, as a member of the state commission North Rhine-Westphalia of our village has a future , as chairman of the municipal forest owners association NRW and as a full member of the association board of the savings bank association Westphalia-Lippe , as chairman of the administrative board of the Stadtsparkasse Schmallenberg and the Sparkasse Mitten im Sauerland as well as an assessor on the shooting board of the Schützengesellschaft Schmallenberg and managing director of the Christine Koch Society for the Promotion of Literature in the Sauerland. He has been a member of the supervisory board of GVV municipal insurance since 2009.

In 2008, Halbe received the Johann Christian Eberle Medal for his services to the savings bank system .
